from designTAXI:
To commemorate the papacy of former Pope Benedict XVI, the Vatican recently released a 62-page photo book on their website, featuring photos of the outgoing Pope conducting masses, praying, etc.
Three cardinal design sins are present:
- The captions for the photographs are all in Comic Sans, a universally despised font that The Verge said “is typically associated with children’s birthday party invitations.”
- The watermarks on the photographs themselves, likely crediting the photographer and/or studio, are done in Papyrus, which is an extremely overused font most often found on organic food items and brochures for various mental health services.
- The overall design of the whole thing sucks. Again, The Verge: “The Pope’s scrapbook looks like something out [of] late-90s Geocities.” Not sure what that means? Click here to see fontsthatsuck.com as it would look if it were made by a 13-year-old in 1996.
